Aaargh. I do this kind of thing all the time - miss people or not realise who they are. I was sitting right next to a guy for most of a day who'd invited me along to a Belfast con without realising it! Dipshit that I am. I'm going to try and make Eastercon - I have a dodgy back right now (sciatica) but it should have cleared up by then.

Oh, I was there alright...at the very table you got the Beckett from! Though, one assumes, not at that exact moment - I was probably doing a run to the bar. For Jetse, you understand, not myself...(cough)

I did look out for you, but every time someone said they'd seen you, you'd vanished into thin air. Selah. I'm sure we'll catch up sometime - next year's Eastercon, perhaps? :)

Funnily enough, I *also* picked up the Holy Machine at Eastercon (2006. I remembered after it you said you'd be there, but somehow I failed to catch you - assuming you were in fact there, and I wasn't suffering my sporadic inability to recognised people up to and including family members). It is indeed a superlative work, and I'm very, very glad I found it.

That's exactly where I got mine (a personally autographed copy, no less), and likewise it has sat taunting me for a long time. I'm very glad I read it, it's an excellent debut novel. I will now have to go back and investigate some of Beckett's short work!
