In Orange County, California, a recent spate of UFO sightings is down to the DIY antics of two men.
They build ultra-light ‘flying saucers’ and use them to ‘buzz’ the local neighbourhood as part prank, part promo (they sell the things at $1000 a piece).
Reactions are mixed; a lot of UFO nuts have totally fallen for the trick, and some of the less gullible are impressed by the simple technologies involved. But some business owners have objected to their staff being freaked. You’d think that in California no one would even blink at ‘em.
