McKie spoofs Lee Child, babies and television, reverse panspermia, methane rocket engine…
-
1 – Lee Child: New Readers Start Here
Andrew McKie in full-on spoof mode. Very funny indeed.
-
2 – Most babies watch TV, despite warnings
“About 40 per cent of three-month-old babies and 90 per cent of two-year-olds regularly watch television or videos and the median age for introducing babies to television was nine months.” But is this the disease or a symptom?
-
3 – Old Rockets Carry Bacteria to the Stars
“Derelict rocket stages that propelled four spacecraft toward the edges of our solar system and beyond are likely carrying Earthly bacteria out into the galaxy.” Whooo! Reverse panspermia – a pulp sf story waiting to be written.
-
4 – NASA tests a methane engine
“…when they do get bigger, and can be used for solar system exploration, there’s another advantage that kicks in: methane can be found all throughout the solar system (or made easily from available materials).”

As the father of a new baby, I’ll tell you it’s damned hard keeping him from watching TV. We don’t watch as much TV as most Americans, although I watch a fair amount of sports. We resolved to keep our son from watching TV, but he’s utterly fascinated by it, it’s hard to keep him from watching it if I’m watching it, and may the childraising gods forgive me, it keeps him from screaming sometimes.
