  1. Get The Image – WordPress Plugin

"If there is no custom field used, the script looks for the first image attached to your post. If there is one, then it grabs that image and uses it. If there are no custom fields used or images attached to your post, the script has the capability of displaying a default image that you’ve set." Hallelujah!

  1. I’m curious, why do you find Get the Image so exciting, Paul? (And you really aught to install that plugin that lets me sign up to be notified when someone replies to a comment on this thread, so I can be notified when you answer this :))

  2. Get The Image was exciting because it was a solution to a problem that I’d been trying to code around for about four hours; there’s a number of ways to do similar things in the Codex, but most of the ‘get attachment’ calls rely on passing the attachment ID as part of the function; if you’re using a get_posts loop to do a long string of posts, calling for the attachment ID for each post and then passing that back to get the actual attachment src was, in the vernacular, a bloody nightmare unless you’re a lot more deft with PHP than I am at the moment. I searched for advice on how to fix the problem, and found the plugin. Google serendipity. 🙂

Might have to try one of those notification plugins, though I’ve never found one that worked to my satisfaction…
