Try not to argue about “religion” by describing only one kind of religion?
Jews have been arguing with God for a couple of thousand years or more. Quakers have been searching for ways to make the world a better place for a good three hundred years. There are plenty of activist religions around which are neither submissive nor complacent.

To be fair, he does state at the top of the piece that he’s pitching at mainstream Christianity … though me pulling that quote out in isolation doesn’t make it very apparent, I’ll grant you.
