Fresh from the clogged tubes of teh intarwubs…

  1. Seth Lloyd: Quantum computers will ‘undo the present and recall the past’

"Lloyd offers an example where, if a logically reversible computer were used to record a financial contract and to execute its terms, and if the parties were not satisfied with the way those terms were executed, then those terms could be 'un-executed,' any money disbursed, reimbursed, and the contract deleted, as if it had never happened. He calls it a 'digital time machine.'"

  2. From the Beginning

"The only way to learn to write is to write a lot. It’s not magic, it’s work. Read. Read read read. Write. Write write write. Have a life and then put it into your work. Don’t give up. Be rigorous. Look at your work as honestly as you can. Figure out what you need to learn next, and then go learn it. Be proud of what you learn, and then go learn more. Welcome constructive criticism and forget the bullshit — not everyone is qualified to advise you how to write better. Learn the lessons of writing a story, then let that story go if necessary, and move on. You don’t have to sell everything you write. Not selling everything you write does not make you a failure, it makes you a writer."

  3. Health fears grow as fake drugs flood into Britain

"Latest government intelligence indicates that criminal gangs operating largely out of China have shifted away from selling fake "lifestyle" drugs such as Viagra on the internet and are now concentrating on supplying counterfeit "life-saving" medicines to the NHS. Profits are potentially greater, with the high price of medicines in the UK ensuring that it has emerged as a prime target for criminals… " How many ironies here?
