Top White House aides are privately discussing the future of Karl Rove, with some expressing doubt that President Bush can move beyond the damaging CIA leak case as long as his closest political strategist remains in the administration.
If Rove stays, which colleagues say remains his intention, he may at a minimum have to issue a formal apology for misleading colleagues and the public about his role in conversations that led to the unmasking of CIA operative Valerie Plame, according to senior Republican sources familiar with White House deliberations.
Oh dear. Seems like Tony Blur isn’t the only one having problems due to illegal shenanigans by one of his close advisors…there’s a curious mirror effect happening accross the pond at the moment too. Seems that after a few years of Tony following George, they’ve decided to swap over…
I’m no big politico knowledge-source, that’s for sure. But there is a definite pattern starting to emerge as legal systems on both sides of the Atlantic finally cough out the long-brewing stompings that our not-so-glorious leaders have been tacitly asking for ever since they ignored the opinions of those who they are elected to serve. Of course, their replacements will probably be lying shysters too, but this is about as close as the man on the street is going to get to seeing his President/PM slip on a banana-skin that he dropped himself. Karma is a beautiful thing.
