Struggling a bit to get the engines up to speed, here, but the first week of the year is always a tough one—especially when Xmas and New Year fall in the middle of the week, as they did this time round. Weekends are a crucial part of my rhythmic structure, and having what feels like four of them in the space usually allocated for two… well, it knocks me completely off the rails, it seems.
(Ironically, this has probably been compounded by my foolishly trying to work through the holidays—an error I’ve made enough times to know better, or so you’d think. If I’d taken the whole of last week as proper time off, I’d be not much further behind where I want to be than I already am, and I’d have had a week of rest! You have my permission to remind me of this in around eleven months from now.)

The engines may be sputtering, but some details of the route are starting to clarify already, which is nice: two fairly solid-seeming prospects of paying work turning up in the first two working days of the year is a good omen, or at least I’m choosing to interpret it as such.
On the subject of omens, rebooting my divinatory habits is one of the things on this year’s list. The spread above came out today, and matches well with the “instructions received” vibe of the week so far.
Off we go, then.
